Day 6, Moken Trip

I actually have 40 mins to blog+pack for 1 week and get ready so it'll be rush. I'll be going back to ipoh at 10am and now is 9.21am =p Must get this done!!

Day 6(21 DEC 2009) à Phuket Island. Clean shirt.

1. 08.00am : Had breakfast at the hotel where the choices are either chicken porridge or American Breakfast. Many people donated their ham slices to me and I perfected my American Breakfast sandwich recipe! =D
Construction of "American Breakfast Sandwich" on the way!

Viola! Looks awesome! But how does it taste .... =p
...=OOOOO noooooooooooooo!!! Sooooo delicious!!!! XD hahaha

This is me messing around in the hotel lobby XD Anyways!

3. 11.10am : Everyone got their free and easy time for the next 3 hours! For me, I had incredible ice-cream (you MUST order chocolate millionaire at Svensons! @ only 99 baht for 4 scoops with banana and truffle and CHOCOLATE SAUCE!!), and an hour’s excellent lesson in two shops, on how girls bargain when they shop.

Chocolate galore!! How to choose!??!?
Choices choices .....
=O *Light shining down* =p

Have you ever seen anything more beautiful?? =O

We couldn't take anymore photos after that because we bulldozed through the ice-creams XD

Attackk!!!!!!!
The lucky people having their satisfying adventure at Svensons =p
The ladies. Shopping. shopping. and more shopping =p they were like arguing to the point of unhappiness XD Guys can never do that!!

5. 04.45pm : Ate at the Thai Airport cafe for 3920 baht for all members and learnt how to play Bridge! We sat on two separate tables. There was some confusion with the bill where we were tracked by the restaurant people to the boarding gate because we had forgotten to pay for the other table!! Due to lack of time (boarding the plane) we paid a round figure of 2000 baht for the other table.
Learning how to play simple bridge ...
(owh this is TOUGH!)

The two tables =D

6. 06.00pm : The flight delayed for 30 minutes because there were too many flights going into the airport at that time. The plane was totally packed.

7. 07.10pm : Touchdown at KLIA. Took our luggage and said our goodbyes ... We’re planning to have a reunion sometime soon! Hope I can see everyone there for our first meeting together!

~beeeeeeeeeeep!

Day 5, Moken Trip

Free and easy =p Our mission trip is over =) So we're now like a Tour group without a guide haha! Yes yes I know my posts are extremely long! =p Stay tuned for day 6! It will be the shortest =) And most delicious =p

Day 5(20 DEC 2009) à Ranong Church. White shirt.

1. 07.00am : Many people had problems with charging their electronic devices as the plug points in Thailand are quite different from those in Malaysia. I didn't take any pictures of it but it's kinda like a mini 3 pin plug =p It is recommended that everyone bring their own adapters to Thailand! For breakfast, there was either 5-Spice chicken noodles or American Breakfast (....again...). Of course I chose the noodles XD

Thai road!
To the church!!

3. 10.10am : A few Thai songs with English subtitles were sung. The congregation was rather small as many of the church members are out at other churches in islands all around. Their members are in other churches planting seeds! Soooo noble =p Sister Nancy shared her experience with the help of a translator, of trusting God. Of how some of the things she did was not her ‘cup of tea’ and how she pulled through! It was soooo funny XD the translator dunno how to translate cup of tea XD Soon after, we did out short presentation for them =)

Sister Nancy and translator!

4. 12.00pm : We had lunch provided by the church. Rice, winter melon soup and spicy long bean with meat! The meat was EXTREMELY SPICY. I almost died XD

5. 12.30pm : We returned to the missionary house to clean up and pack up the medicine. During this time, I interviewed Dave and Mike =p An exclusive interview!
This is Mike being interviewed by yours truly ...
This is Mike and his fiancee Lia =p They're getting married very very soon!
Well I continued interviewing them then went on to talk about their relationship XD HAHAHA!!
How they went to the lake in the mountains =p (in the black bag in the real situation is actually roses and chocolate and cake - hehe) He was telling us how he proposed to her XD

6. 12.50pm : Just finished interviewing Mike and Dave. Time to enter the bus!
Goodbye Missionary people =p You guys rock!

7. Midday : I interviewed Kay during the bus trip to Phuket. During the first half of the trip, everyone was sleepy and resting. Along the way, we stopped by a 7-11 where the team spent about 30 minutes in that small 7-11 =.= After boarding the bus, everyone was excited with their snacks and totally energized. Lol.
Snacks of 1 person. Multiply this by 15. =p

That lead us to play Chor Dai Dee on the bus XD And lead us to make the loser sing =p And I ended up singing tons. LOL. And somehow suddenly the mic came into the picture. And we wanted Kay to sing but she didn't want =p So I made a deal with Kay whereby everyone will sing a short part of any song and then Kay MUST sing =p RAWR!!

Well ended up everyone did sing and James was the BEST singer XD i vote for him! Hahaha!!
James in action!

8. Night : We stayed at Crystal Inn in Phuket and had dinner at a nearby stall area. We ordered some food, which was rice, Green Curry Chicken, lala, oyster in egg and some vegetables. Most of the ladies then went to have a massage(I didn't go at all, thank you very much =p) at “Kim’s Place” while a few(me) went back to the hotel.

9. 10 ish : Dr Wong fell down in the slippery bathroom! He dislocated his left elbow. He tested his pulse, and concluded that his nerves are still well(he kept testing and talking about it) XD and it is either elbow dislocation or fracture. He called his colleague in Malaysia and asked for some advice. In the end, he concluded that he’ll just do an operation back in Malaysia since he’ll be going back the next day. Using a scissor casing as a splint, we bandaged his hand to avoid further injuries.

Beep!

Day 4, Moken Trip

Day 4(19 DEC 2009) à Third Island, Koh Lao. Blue Shirt.

This is the last island we visited =p

1. 07.00am : We had American breakfast with a choice of tea or coffee. Where I made my first American Breakfast Sandwich XD

Masterpiece =O (bow) lol

Beach view =)

3. 10.20am : As the tide is uber low, a smaller boat transferred the members to the larger boat! Once everyone got on the larger boat, we set-off to the third and last island!

Weather-proof man!
Team on board!
Sha XD
Don't fall into the sea!!
Woahhh!!
Exercise book, 22 baht,
Glass 7UP, 10 baht,
Mini paper calenders, 38 baht,
James' expression, Priceless =p
For some things, money can buy. For others, you have visa mastercard XD

Dunno why that popped into my head XD

MY island =p Not cecilia's! hahaha!!

4. 12.00pm : We've reached!! There are more people here compared to the other islands. And the people here can speak Malay!
Church on hill!
Way to village!
The kids =)
And the view from the church!

5. 01.15pm : After the songs and skit, balloons and lollipops were given before we served the villagers food! The food was similar to that of the day before and this was followed by the girl’s cell where the ladies interacted with the cell.
Totally enjoying the presentation!
Praying hard for the food =)

Queuing up for balloons!
Urgh! This rock is heavy!!! =p
Dave carrying the super heavy gas tank. All i could think of is taking a camera and snapping the photo of that XD HAHAHA "omgosh dave that looks soooo *snap* heavy!! *snap snap* lol!"

6. Midday : Medication and belongings were loaded onto a smaller boat before being transferred to the larger boat. The mud was ankle thick and Cecilia’s Croc (singular) almost got missing as it was stuck in the ankle thick mud!! Shaharudeen fell into the water while trying to board the larger boat. Falling into the water is highly dangerous because it is hard to get back on board! But we got him in! Yay!

Sleeping on board!
Sun hidden by clouds =)
Everyone is soooo tired on the way back!

7. 05.40pm : We reached the jetty and had to walk a plank to transfer both items and humans from the boat to the jetty XD
Walking the plank to transfer to the jetty!

8. 07.10pm : Dinner was at a restaurant nearby and the food was terrific!! The menu was soft shell crab, tom yam soup, fish, fried chicken, mango salad and some vegetable dish. The blessing the food song was taught to everyone and the atmosphere was joyful! Jenita came late and she was to bring her family to join us for dinner. Unfortunately, her family members could not make it. Since there was extra food left, a few of us(or maybe it might be singular -> me) HAD to help her to prevent wasting food. =p She also bought 20 portions of Mango Sticky Rice for us to consume tonight!

A nissan teana 2.5L parked at the hotel! The price for 2.3L in malaysia is like .. rm200k+++ ... LOL!

9. Night : A few of us followed Jenita’s transport to the hot springs which was a mere 5 minutes away from the restaurant! The hottest part of the hot spring can be used to cook an egg XD I was thinking more of generating electricity! HAHAHAHA!!

Dipping into the hot springs pool!

(BEEEP!!!!!!!!!) =p =p =p - good memories =)

Day 3, Moken Trip

Day 3(18 DEC 2009) à Second island, Koh Payam. Red shirt.

1. 08.30am : Chicken rice or american breakfast? I got chicken rice of course!(the next few days I only had american breakfast and no other choice) At the lobby while waiting for the van(2 van trips to bring us to jetty) we took tons of photos XD hahahaha!

The group =)
Dave coming to fetch us to the jetty!

2. 11.00am : We boarded the boat and headed to the furthest island of the three. An ice box was packed onto the boat to preserve food and some members put all the bottled waters into the ice box! We had pineapple rice for lunch. Eaten on the helm of the boat with the wind blowing at you! Woah!! The trip will be around 2 hours. The weather was very nice and calm =D

On the boat!
Some people got too bored on the boat and made a mickey mouse =p

This reminds me, Happy birthday Paul! (not related to trip) hahaha!

We saw many many sights and wonders on this loooong boat ride! there were flying fish!! So cool! The flying fish were like dancing on the water! But I didn't get to take any photos ...

Then we reached the jetty =D

The road leading to the village!

3. 03.15pm : More people are at the mobile clinic in this island compared to yesterday’s. We set up the mobile clinic at the jetty while some are preparing food at some place near the church XD Hard at work I tell you!

The vitamin C for the kids =)
Look at the spider man trousers boy =p
Wai Fun feeding the children! I told her ... cannot! but she still feed =p

Hard at work making the Belacan!Rawr! United we stand =D

While they were cooking, some of us went over to check out the village area =D

The way to the village!
Look at the artistic-ly made house!
James taking a photo XD of me! haha

5. 06.20pm : We saved some Belacan for the next island. The children just love the balloons i tell you XD

=D

6. 06.45pm : It is now low tide; too low, the boat is stuck in the mud!! The ladies walked across the river first to our hotel(30 mins away) while the guys loaded the things onto the boat painfully =p To prevent their crocs/slippers from being stuck in the mud, the guys had to walk barefoot to load the uber super ultra heavy things onto the boat and not only was the mud ankle deep, it was filled with sharp shellfish! OUCH! Along the way to the hotel, the men saw large hermit crabs the size of fists and 1 foot long burrowing crabs! I didn't take photos of the foot long crabs but I got a lausy shot of a hermit crab XD

Fist size hermit crab!

The Payam Cottage hotel pool! =p

7. 08.00pm : After dinner we practiced our presentation for the Ranong Church. We're going to perform something for them during service on Sunday =p tiring but oh well!

~Beep!!

Day 2(17 DEC 2009) à First island, Koh Lao. Go 101 Shirt.

1. 05.45am : SOOO EARLY! And we had to wake up to queue for the limited washrooms =.= There are 20 of us and only 2 washrooms! LOL. Oh food was brought to us =D

Tesco food brought by the Missionaries, Mike and Dave =D
Mike and Dave will be our guide throughout the trip. =) They are based in Ranong by STAMP!

3. 07.35am : We went to the jetty to start our loonggg boat tripp. Okay, not that long actually XD just 40 minutes!
The Ranong jetty ...

Loading things onto the boat!
The river area.

We were in 2 boats so these are the people on my boat.

The other boat =O

Missionary Dave(still single and only 25 yrs old) and Sha.

What are they looking at? XD

Some sights while on the ride =)

Bored XD

5. 08.45am : We reached the school jetty and set up camp!

Here are the children at the cafeteria ...

We performed for them and sang with them =) Each skit that we did sends a message! Ask me about it XD I love the skits! hahaha! ANYWAYS! We then went over to do mobile clinic!!

7. 02.27pm : We had the honour of fixing the fence for the agricultural plot. =p The process was to thread metal wires to tie the netting to the support rope. Unfortunately the metal wires ran out.(yay) - it's very very hot XD

An agricultural plot =) There's a cool story where Mike(a missionary) killed a king cobra! in the plot XD rawr! hehe ... dangerous!

The nice path to the plot ...

After we did the agricultural plot, we hiked to the village from the school.
(gonna perform there too!)

View from the hill =)

8. 03.00pm : At the village, after the mobile clinic, we performed for them and gave the kids lollipops -> make them fat! After Christmas carols and a song to bless the food by Pastor Kay, food was served to the villagers.

The song goes like this ...

Thank you for the world so sweet, tee-dum,
Thank you for the food we eat, yum-yum!
Thank you for the birds that sing-a-ling-a-ling,
And thank you God for everything, Amen!

It's a very nice song XD i'll teach you how to sing it XD anytime! hahaha!!

Oh. This is Sha eating his hat XD too hungry watching the villagers eat ! XD

Some of the villagers!

A view of the jetty.

The houses there ...

The boat we're using to go back to Ranong =)
(using the larger boat. 20 people squeeze in one!) lol!

The group going onto the boat ...

Look at the view! Islands rock! XD

Suuuunnsseett!!
Dave and I.

Then as we near the Ranong jetty ... A large flock of eagles came! =D
The eagles are so powerfully nice XD We're so tired and when we saw them we got energised!

*look! eagle!*
"wow so many"
'over there over there!'

LOL!
9. 06.45pm : We took out things to the hotel(which only cost 350 baht a night omgosh) and then went to dinner near some hot springs! Gosh. the hotel is only like rm35 a night, comes with breakfast, hot shower, aircon, tv, swimming pool!

Dinner!!

We went to TESCO! And the tesco here is really cool XD we shopped for all the potato chips we could lay our hands on! haha! There's this LAYS lime SHOCK flavour which is soooo cooolllll!
(but we couldn't find it in TESCO)

Anyways then our day ended after some debrief and stuff.

Stay tuned for day 3!!
(BEEP!!)

December 22, 2009

Day 1, Moken trip

Day one was just arriving at the place and setting up. I only took photos starting day 2. Average 100 photos a day XD This post won't have photos but all the other posts will! =D I will be updating everyday for the next ... 4 days? XD So stay tuned =p

At KLIA minutes before leaving ... =)

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS!!!!!!!

Day 1(16 DEC 2009) à Ranong. Arrive.

1. 06.23pm : The Moken mission team touched down at Phuket International Airport around 5.20pm. We got into a huge 40-seater bus. This was entirely unexpected because we were expecting a mini bus!!(just 20 of us) But still good XD By the way, the pharmacy which supplies the medicine mixed up the timing and thus, the bus is heading to collect the medicine halfway from the pharmacy. =.=" The bus ride to Ranong is about 4-5 hours! =O

4. 08.45pm : DINNER! We had dinner at this random chinese place but the menu was entirely in Thai language. ... ... Fortunately, the owners speak Mandarin and understand Cantonese =D. If you're wondering how the place looks, the decor of the place is typical kopitiam. Most people are sleepy from the long bus ride(especially me) but lightened up when they reached(even more especially me).

Jane posing with a vintage looking moto in front of the restaurant XD

5. 09.50pm : The food was AWESOME! There was 5-Spice spring roll, unshelled crab, mixed mushroom, steamed chicken and spicy tom yam soup with seafood! (mouth watering). The meal for all 20 people only cost 1500 baht.

For anyone interested, the phone number of the place is 076-421938 XD

6. Midnight : We reached the missionary house where we met the two missionaries who were based there in Ranong by an organisation called STAMP. Their names are Mike and Dave. Mike is the older one while Dave is younger.

Because of debriefing and stuff, we ended up sleeping at only ..... 1.40 am (thai time) --> 2.40am Malaysian time =.=

Totally exhausted the next morning when we had to wake up at 5 plus =.=

~beep!!!!!!!!
